Lincoln, Maine Ghost Tales | |
|
Near the fire station in Lincoln used to stand an old house, it is said that the family that had cleaned the house out to move into had paranormal experiences. The youngest daughter was cleaning out an upstairs closet when she heard sobbing from behind her, she turned to find nothing there as she turned back the closet door closed in her face. However the latch was broken and the wind from the slamming door released a letter. It was a death notice. The family never got to move in, some say the warned the owner that if the house was destroyed it would never rest. He laughed. To this day if you go down to the old site where the house used to stand, you will see a woman with her head bowed quietly sobbing. If you see her don't run, offer comfort. It's said that it calms her spirit enough to find some peace. Even if it is only for a short time. Submitted by anonymous
