Monmouth, Maine Ghost Tales


In the daylight hours Monmouth, Maine is equal to any other US town, but this is a town where the living dead stroll the lanes during the dark hours. Night hour is undead time here. A number of locals declare there are no spirits, but Monmouth is bursting with undead souls just waiting to spook you.

These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently.

The phantom of a man grasping a sword is sometimes made out holding a cranium on the shore of Cochnewagon Lake.

A woman with maggots crawling out of her mouth is rumored to have been perceived on frequent occasions in a deserted area close to Monmouth.

The phantom of a tied up lady may every now and then be spotted dragging a corpse from the ice cold water of Bog Brook at midnight. People who have perceived this ghost say this ghost is the undeceased soul of a former Monmouth person who lived here.

A female clutching her head under her arm was perceived observing the surroundings from the peak of Bishop Hill in the early morning
 
    hours before sunrise. The arrival of the eye witness alarmed the phantom who then vanished.

The ghost of a gentleman having half his head absent was perceived at the water at Marr Point shining a light. The watcher got freaked out and fled. Nevertheless, this is an unfriendly phantom that you shouldn't go looking for.
