Peaks Island, Maine Ghost Sightings
Andy a baker lives in the attic of my son's house on Peaks Island. He leaves each morning at 4 am to make donuts at his no longer existing shop. One night while I was sleeping in another room accompanied by our dog, the dog raced down the hall growling her ears and tail erect barking into the bedroom Andy uses in the morning. Three times I retrieved the dog. Three times she went back down the hall. The last time she went into the room, and the door slammed.
Terrified I went after her and reached into the room to turn the light in there on. Andy apparently went back to his room in the attic, and the dog and
I went back to sleep.|

I was staying on Peaks Island at a relative's house, and I borrowed a kayak. I was coming ashore onto a little island called Ram, standing knee deep in water, and I dropped my paddle. It started going quickly away from me. Being pulled by the wave, I thought it would go out to sea, and I would be totally stranded. It turned out a young woman was there, swimming in the little cove. She swam over and pushed it back to me, telling me to be very careful. She said that it was dangerous out there alone (except, SHE seemed to be alone!), and reminded me that the rising tide might take away the kayak from the beach. She pointed over my head and said that the weather was changing and that perhaps I should not go ashore.
I looked behind me to the beach to see if it was worth dragging the kayak up there, and to see what she seemed to be seeing about the weather. Then I looked back again to talk to her, but all I could see was a piece of driftwood with seaweed clumped around it. I know the driftwood did not push my paddle back to me or talk to me, but I was so freaked out I decided to leave right away. I was not even back to Peaks yet when a heavy fog rolled in, and I could barely find a beach, never mind the beach I was trying for. I was so spooked, and I will never forget that ghost that might have saved my life the day I tried to go kayaking on Casco Bay.
