I was driving from presque isle to van buren one night in 2008... when i got to caribou it was 3:15 am.. on us rt1..When I got close to the cemetery across the street from sleepers store... right in the road.. a young lady in a light blue dress.... I stopped and asked if she was all right.. she didn't answer... then I asked her do you need help... she then put her hands on my car and made a weird sound and then she vanished... Talk about being scared.. I got to van buren in 10 mins flat.... Submitted by Jody

superstition, but there really are bloodcurdling things occurring here in Portage in the moonlight hours.
These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently.
The ghost of a young-looking guy wearing a winter jacket has sometimes been witnessed near the water at Indian Point struggling to articulate something.
A decapitated gentleman is from time to time observed mid stream in Chase Brook trying to seize something. Some of the folks here assert this spirit is the tormented soul of a long forgotten Portage local resident.
