Westbrook, Maine Ghost Tales I Grew up in an old Victorian in Westbrook and stay there once in a while still while visiting old friends and family.  Some things I've experienced have been footsteps coming down stairs, the smell of a tobacco pipe when I'm alone in the home and just catching things out of the corner of eye. My mother claims to have actually been pushed down the stairs many years ago and my father has had appliances going on and off by themselves. I have heard a mans voice say my name and have felt someone behind me, when no one is there. My young daughter has seen a little girl she calls Susie, and I have seen a woman in my living room. My cats have had strange experiences as well. They will suddenly stop walking and look up as though someone is in front of them. Then they back away from whatever it is....very strange..... I was looking at a truck that was sitting at the corner of Larabee and Main St. It was after hours when a salesman in a suit came up to me and asked if he could help   me. I figured it was a salesman that was staying late and I asked him a question and when I turned around he was gone. He was smoking a cigarette when we chatted and I could still smell it when he was gone. I had a sudden chill and left in a hurry. I found a truck just like it in another town and will not go back there. The ghost was cold and uncaring. The ghosts of this city don’t leave anyone unterrified. Some local residents say these stories are not true, but with so many ghosts in Westbrook you have a relatively good chance of seeing one if you spend the night around here. These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. The ghost of a seriously charred lady showed up having a melon on the shore of Presumpscot River Reservoir. Panic stricken by the onlookers the phantom receded into the night. In any event, this is an unpleasant ghost that should be avoided.
