East Taunton, Massachusetts Ghost Tales I grew up in East Taunton, and I can remember all my friends talking about a mysterious fire in a graveyard on Liberty Street.  One of my friends who lived across the street said he saw it one night when he was standing at the end of his driveway.  Looking across the street, he noticed a light flickering amongst the gravestones.  He dismissed it as the moon or a flashlight.  Then, the next night, he saw it again.  On the third night he asked me to come along.  I saw it too, and the combined courage of the two of us enabled us to cross the street for a closer look.  I was almost hoping for some confirmation as to it being an illusion but it was only more distinct as we approached.  We got about 60 yards from the fire.  Then, the fire went out and we heard a scream.  We ran like hell. Submitted by Doug White The bloodied prom dress girl is real. She was stabbed to death in the early 1990s not far from the payphone in question. The killer used the payphone (and bloodied it) to call for a ride to escape the scene. The phone has since       been removed but the bloodied woman continues to show up. Couches move around, sounds coming from nowhere. Folks who have never spent the night in this municipality will surely tell you   it's all just superstition, but seeing is believing and if you stay an extra day here in East Taunton, you may perhaps see a ghost. These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. A female's body having a raccoon's head may regularly be spotted in Emma N F Hutt Forest after midnight gathering wood to make a fire. A half decomposed human dead body has every now and then been distinguished very late at night crawling out of Casual Swamp soaked in mud. A local declares that this phantom may be the soul of a person who lived here who passed on here in East Taunton some time ago. A female ablaze, hauling a gas tank is once in a while perceived performing a song on a xylophone in an East Taunton flat. The ghost of a youthful air force pilot may every now and then be witnessed looking at the water by Barstows Pond Dam late in the night. One of the folks who live here steadfastly declares that this ghost may perhaps be a well-known former time dweller of East Taunton. A lady with a sea-green face is often observed in the middle of Bassett Brook yelling at the observer to beat it.
