(...continued from the previous page)
My dog is a golden retriever. He has no fear of graveyards, cemeteries or human remains most of the time, but this stone terrified him. He cried. He tried to hide behind my legs. He tried to pull me as far from the stone as he could. As we moved away from the offending stone, he kept looking back as if to make sure that it was still where it was supposed to be. When we got a little farther away I did find a sign indicating that this was indeed a burial

ground belonging to a now-defunct facility run by the state department of mental health and retardation.
Inmates of the facility, which apparently
|
housed both mentally handicapped and mentally ill individuals or so the sign seemed to suggest, were buried here. The P indicates protestant, the C Catholic. The last burial took place in 1974. I don't know if I could find the place again if I tried, and the dog has not responded in a similar way to any other sites we've visited to include cemeteries or allegedly haunted locations. Comment by Elizabeth: Awesome, I believe it those poor people had no one and were left for dead by people of such selfish nature the pain and agonizing frustration of a life wanting to get out but instead just waiting to die is enough to make any soul want to dance on his or her own grave just to feel alive is understandable!.
