Bloomingdale, New Jersey Ghost Tales Lived on knolls rd and remember seeing a white gown lady walking in my yard. Very freaky. Submitted by Grace       Categories: yard, lady My family moved to Van Dam Ave. the summer of 1979 when I was 16. Almost immediately weird things started happening. Strange noises coming from the attic things turning off and on by themselves! My mother asked me one day why I was going into my younger brothers room and waking him up I said I never did that. She said my brother who at the time was six said I was wearing blue jeans and a blue t shirt and kept waking him up every night! I did not ever wear blue t shirts then or now! Then he said it happened again and I was not even home that night. I slept over a friends house in Wayne! We started to hear footsteps through out the house at night and so did other people when they stayed over! Our one friend Ritchie from West Milford thought we were all nuts and did not believe it until one night he went upstairs to the bathroom and came running back down yelling       and screaming that the cord hanging from the ceiling in the bathroom for the light started wrapping around his neck and choking him. He was white as a ghost and never slept over again! One night at the end of the summer in 79 my step father went to an oldies concert in PA. And the only ones home was me my mother Kathy and the two youngest Kristy and   matt. I would not stay upstairs alone so I slept downstairs on the floor in my mothers room which was really the dining room that you could get in by the living room or the kitchen. We went to bed about 10 or 11 that night and then the noises started in the attic and heavy footsteps came down the attic stairs. Then the attic door opened and shut with a loud bang the attic door was always locked so Kristy and matt could not get up there. Then the footsteps walked into all three bedrooms upstairs and the bathroom then came down the stairs through the whole house and ended right at the doorway to my moms room where we were! I laid there frozen in fear and sweat too afraid to look. After what seemed forever the footsteps walked away and I was up most of the night afraid to go to sleep! To my surprise in the morning everyone heard the same thing the same exact way! the landlord was a self proclaimed warlock who also lived in Bloomingdale. I do not wish to reveal his name, but he is probably dead by now! After two and a half years of spooky noises and foot steps and apparitions and bad luck we moved! 30 years later I only live about 5 miles away from the house. Every now and then I drive by just to look at my old bedroom window upstairs and the attic! I still get the creeps just thinking about it!
