Johnsonburg was settled in the 1740's in 1753 it became the county seat of the newly formed Sussex county. It was known as logg gaol then. Many of the buildings standing today in Johnsonburg are the original buildings which were built as Early as the 1750's. There is one ghost that has been around for awhile. It is a figure of a tall thin Man wearing a long overcoat short brim hat beard and mustache. As far as I know he

favors two homes in the area both which were in the Howell family. My experience with this spirit has been mixed. He typically appears when
|
a change in the land surrounding these houses is happening. When I was renovating the one House built in 1740 he became very alive.
He did not want the new windows and made it difficult to put the replacements in to the Point the Carpenter almost fell off the scaffold when the scaffold was mysteriously shaken. I have seen this spirit/ghost/presence several times in my life and so have others. Which confirm my sightings
