Millville, New Jersey Ghost Tales My experiences with death and the unknown. I sit here and think about how I almost drowned in Florida in a pool when I was maybe 5 years old. I sat down on the steps and was near the jet section, as I went to walk down I lost my footing and the jet stream pushed me further out. I didn't know how to swim, and ended up walking around the bottom of the pool looking at everyone who was in it. I remember seeing my dads legs and swim trunks and made my way towards him to get his attention. I didn't panic and inhaled the water as if it were air. I felt peaceful and did know I was drowning. I grabbed my dads trunks and pulled them, and began passing out. I awoke with my dad hitting my back and telling me to breath. I remember throwing up water and having a head ache. Later on in life I recall going out to a watering hole in new port area. It was behind a fire department and we all got out to have fun in the water. My mom, dad, and two brothers were out there and I recalled seeing a group of high school kids swinging on a rope. I got my dads       permission to go over and boy did I run out there. I waited in line to swing on this huge rope and watched the bigger kids swing so far out and drop. Well I was determined to do better, but I didn't know that the bigger kids weren't paying attention to me and when I jumped out, I went to far and straight down. It was like a suction, and I began to   get colder the further down I was being pulled. No one came to help, and I knew I had to get out, and saw a tree root. I looked down and saw complete darkness and it was so cold that I had trouble moving my legs and arms and again a peace came over me. I knew I was going to drown, but for some reason I didn't panic. I grabbed the root and began pulling myself up, and once I felt the warmth of the sun and the sand, the light began to shine over me. I was able to pull my drained and almost lifeless body out of the blue hole and walked back to my parents who never knew what happened. Out of fear of getting my butt beat by my old fashioned dad, I dared not say anything. Several years went by and we lived in a half of double in Bridgeton NJ. I was about 10 or 11 years old, and was the oldest of three boys. One night, it was two weeks before Christmas and my brothers and I were up in the hallway throwing a ball for fun. The Doberman we had as a pet began acting strange and looked down the stairs and suddenly ran and hid under my bed which was the first room off of the stair way as you come up to the second floor. We all stopped and looked at the dog as it began crying and acting like suddenly this big bad dog that was a trained guard dog, was up set and scared. I could not under stand and we began playing again.
