I do not know what I saw. I was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery on September 5, 2008, looking for graves of my ancestors. I was doing my family genealogy. It was really hot that day. I, foolishly thinking I was twenty; I am older than that; I thought I could just stroll around and look for my people in that incredibly hot sun. There is this one part of the cemetery that is quite overgrown and dilapidated. It is not even where the oldest graves are located. It is in the middle under a lot of trees. The rest of the cemetery is rather well manicured, but this part is not. The weeds are high. There are little trees starting to sprout up. The headstones are broken and tumbled, and the once ornate wrought iron gates are toppled. These graves date from the 1800s. Dopey me, I totally forgot that the people I was looking for died in the 1900s, so they were not anywhere in that area.
The place where I found my own people who died in the 1800s was fine. It was not in that weird spot, but I started wandering around in there, back and forth among the graves, wading through the weeds. Coming out once more into the sunny part, I saw a couple of people walking along talking, a young man and woman, both dressed all in white, and both very blond. They were walking away from me, so I could only see their backs. I wondered what they were dressed up for; their clothes did not seem typical, although I would have traded with them because I had on jeans, and they were wearing these white, flowery clothes, much better for that weather. The man's pants were loose-fitting; the woman' skirt was long. I kept walking back and forth. I was reading headstones, and pretty soon I saw another couple. They dressed more familiarly, walking in my direction this time, but diagonally as if they were going to cross my path. When I judged we were about to cross paths, I turned to them smiling politely... And no one was there. I looked around and found nothing, not a soul. So, I figured maybe they veered off somewhere and were hidden by trees or something.
I kept searching the graves. I turned down another row headed back towards the creepy overgrown part, and all of a sudden, I heard running behind me. I sped up a little to get out of the way, but the footsteps had gotten louder, pounding the dirt, and all of a sudden I felt sand being kicked up the back of my legs. I was thinking, ''good lord! I am going to be mugged in broad daylight in a cemetery!'' I turned and flung my arm up in a defensive position. I even remember gasping out loud, and there was nothing there. Weirdly, I did not feel threatened in the aftermath; it felt more as if someone had played a practical joke on me. But I decided I was overheated and should go drink about a gallon of water, and the next time I come down to Millville to look for graves, I am going in cooler weather.

Lots of sightings are reported by those who seem excited and at times some reports seem a little out of the ordinary. Rumors of the Jersey Devil and even residents complaining of someone on the streets going around the houses at night are some of them. To law enforcement this would not seem out of the ordinary, due to the fact that people cut through yards all the time. Some might call the police reporting someone walking around in strange clothing with a gun, or apparitions that come and go on the streets of Millville, but this seems to only happen when the sun goes down.
