A few weeks after we sold the house to a professional couple, we got a call from one of the new owners. She calmly asked us if we knew about any ghosts in the house, and we told her the stories. Then she told us that she had been in the basement that morning, busily taking care of the laundry. She distinctly felt a tap on her shoulder. Only slightly startled,     and thinking that it was her husband, she said, ''Not right now,'' without turning around, and continued loading the dryer, clearly hearing the sound of footsteps going upstairs. Minutes later, she went upstairs herself and discovered that her husband was not at home. When he returned, he said that he had been gone for more than an hour, and had not gone into the basement that morning! .
