Greenville, Rhode Island Ghost Tales | |
|
I spent my early years in a house in Greenville to which will always have me believing in spirits. We lived in the caretakers side of a old church (which is now a dress shop)and I can remember talking the the spirit of a young soldier (which I called 'man in the hall') footsteps up and down the cellar steps and the kitchen door opening every morning. My mother put a lock on this door thinking that it was one of us kids (it wasn't) and it still open. The soldier would tell me how I shouldn't be scared of the dark - that I was well protected. Legend is that during the civil war, the home was run by nuns who took in wounded soldiers and the cellar was a morgue. I remember not being scared at all by the spirits that I did encountered. The only spot in the home that I refused to ever go in was an extra bedroom that used to be the parson's room. It reeked of evil! I can remember standing on the threshold of the room and the force within seemed to scream at me. I hope to one day go back to this house and walk through it. Submitted by Robin Categories:
