Wallingford, Vermont Ghost Tales I lived in Walling ford back in 1980, staying at the Wallingford House. I understand that now it is a Senior Home, but at that time it was a rooming house. There were several of us going to school in Rutland. One night we raomed to the top floor of the house and came upon a locked door. We managed to Jimmy the lock and were suprised by the interior. I don't know why someone would do this, but the room had crosses over all of the dooors and windows as if they were trying to keep evil spirits in. Three years later my fiance and I were traveling back from California by car. As a side trip I took       her through Wallingford to show her where I lived once. It was about 2AM when we went through Wallingford and being a small town there was nothing open. So I said there was a samll park outside of town   by the White Rocks. We drove a short ways into the park and settled down to catch some sleep. Within minutes we heard something thump of the roof of the car. Thinking it a pine cone or small branch we ignored it. Then there was a larger thump on the back of the car. We both looked but there was nothing there. Just then a scratching sound, as if someone was dragging a stick, down the passenger side of the car. My fiance was sitting in that seat and we both looked out the window following the sound. The scratching went form the front to the back of the car, but there was nothing there. No trees close by and no movement. My fiance had had enough and she jumped over me and we drove away. I don;t know what made the sound that night or what is up with the house, but Wallingford, VT is indeed a scary place.
