Altamont, New York Ghost Tales I saw a scary ghost yesterday planting flowers outside my lawn It sang wretched songs. It terrified me. I had no idea what the strange spirit wanted! I screamed. It looked up and faded away. My dog Molly barked at the spot where the ghost just was. That night, my husband woke up and heard rusteling leaves. My husband John shook me and pointed to the window. Nothing was there, but I noticed new plants. They were dead flowers and my shrubs looked burnt. The next morning our youngest daughter Jane told us that her houseplant for a school project died. We didnt tell her what we saw. Then our oldest son, Ronald, who was 15 at the time, told us he went down for a midnight snack saw an old women with a dark red cloak raked leaves outside my house. Ronald woke us up and told us someone was trying to break in. We looked outside the window, but no one was there. We looked up in the town records that someone in Altamont named Mary Sue was stabbed to death gardening at midnight, when she couldn't fall asleep. Then someone killed her. She still haunts       Altamont to this day. Many ghost reports have been passed on by the local residents. Not   everybody has faith in the descriptions the local residents tell, but seeing is believing and if you spend a night here in Altamont, you could distinguish a ghost. These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. A female with her arms cut off has supposedly been witnessed on frequent occasions giving a directed visit of Horseshoe Lot to a troop of ghosts before sunrise. One of the people who live here confidently claims that this phantom is the phantom of a traveler that was killed while journeying through Altamont some time ago. The ghost of a man gripping a blood-covered axe was spotted before sunrise floating along Black Creek. The spirit mentioned avenging a homicide. Anyhow, it certainly is a bloodcurdling spirit that is preferably not disrupted. The spirit of a civil war soldier appeared gazing angrily at the eye witness in John Boyd Thacher State Park at the ranger station. The watcher was terrified and fled. The ghost of a badly charred female was noticed on the top of Settles Hill before sunrise glancing at the vista. The spirit saluted the viewer. In any event, this ghost undoubtedly is frightening; one that you wouldn't wish to bump into late in the night.
