A vivid memory that has always reMained with me and that I always had questions about happened late at night back in what must have been 1987 when I was about 8 years old. I remember waking up to a shuffling sound- it was dark and Only a little light was coming through the basement window (in New York the windows are sunk down with a     cavity cropped out around the window outside so you can see like a half-metal barrel holding the Earth around the window). I peeked out from under my Blanket to see several small figures moving around the room almost like they were confused. They were very small appeared to be african american (very dark skin) and had some type of ribbons atop each of their heads- I could make out from their sheen that they were pink and blue. They didn't appear to be wearing much- or anything at all. I remember them whispering but I don't know what they were saying. A couple of them looked   (continued on the next page...)
