Hamlin, New York Ghost Tales Several years ago I was camping at Hamlin Beach State Park. I got up at appx. 2:50 or so, and couldn't get to sleep again. I was not the least tired so I got on my bike and went for a ride. I crossed into the main part of the park and over to Area 3. There is a tangle of walk paths leading east from the main wash house since the moon was full I decided to take a ride that way. I was rounding the eastern concession stand and saw a young man standing outside the stand. I really wouldn't have looked twice except he was wearing clothes that in the moon light looked old. Very old. I got off my bike and took a step towards him. He turned around and disappeared through the glass and wood doors. I freaked and shot back to the campgrounds. There have been lots of meetings with beings from the other side. People who have never spent a night in this settlement will surely tell you it's superstition, but       the living dead may well show themselves to you if you stay for the night in Hamlin. These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. A lady's body having a bear's head has occasionally been spotted slurping blood from a glass in the middle of a deserted highway near Hamlin very late at night. In   any event, it's a scary spirit that you don't want to encounter before dawn. A partly decomposed human body is known to have been observed on a small number of occasions spending time in a deserted home in Hamlin. The ghost of a farmer sporting a worn straw hat can once in a while be seen swallowing motor oil by Yanty Marsh. No matter what, it indisputably is a frightening ghost that you shouldn't go searching for. A young girl sporting a blood-covered wedding gown has frequently been distinguished in Hamlin Beach State Park late at night smoking a cigar. No matter what people say, this phantom sure is frightening; one that should be kept away from. A guy with an axe in his head is often noticed down near the water at Devils Nose reading a newspaper. A guy's body having the head of a sheep has supposedly been noticed on frequent instances standing by a desolate highway near Hamlin. The ghost of a guy holding a sword can often be seen at Brockport Creek at the stroke of midnight chucking rocks into the current. Anyway, this is a nasty ghost that is rather not disturbed.
