  For those who take evening walks on Merrick Avenue and Merrick Circle during the month of July you may encounter an image of two railroad workers running into the open field that was once known as the great Lehigh Valley Transfer Yard. Some say the same images can be seen in the St. Rose cementery as well. History will reveal the death of a young Lawrence (who fell off a switching locomotive in 1918 and suffered amputation to
    both legs) and his father( a brakeman) who suffered a similar fate.
