Peekskill, New York Ghost Tales The peeksill firehouse is the home of at least two ghost as far as I remember. When inside when all is quiet in the corners of your eyes you can see an image of a man mopping or sweeping the floors. The firehouse was a mansion owned by one of the richest families in peekskill. They eventually donated it to the city who turned it into a firehouse. It is legend that this man was given a job back when it was really hard for an african american to get a job. It is said that he was treated so well by the family that to this day he still cleans the place.Harmless but still freaky.  The other a child, from what I was told, the child was mentally handicap and back then it was considered shameful to have a handicap child so the kid was confined to the house. Late at night you can hear the quick speeded footsteps of a child running and a child laughing. The child has been known to turn over tables and chairs as well. I have seen and heard these ghosts personally. These   are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. A decapitated man was noticed smoking a pipe in Annsville Creek. The eye witness was terrified and ran away. The spirit of a surgeon with a bloody uniform appeared reading a magazine down near the waterfront at Lake Alice. The spirit did not seem to be anxious by the bystanders. Some of the folks who live here declare this ghost is the stressed soul of a long dead Peekskill person who lived here. A female with her right arm and left leg severed was spotted seeking someone in South Mountain Pass at the stroke of midnight. The spirit waved to the watcher. In any case, it's without a doubt a bloodcurdling ghost that you don't want to encounter at midnight. The ghost of a man carrying a bloody sword materialized having a seat on a sofa in a house in Peekskill. The ghost was swallowed by the air after being made out. An armed forces outfit striding about devoid of a body in it was witnessed staring next to a streetlamp in Peekskill. Alarmed by the witnesses the ghost withdrew into the night.
