Abigail West's ghost and her daughter's ghost still show up at the old chimney that used to be attached to their old home that got burned down on Clendon Brook Rd. A stone chimney and stone steps all remain but late at night her ghost flies into the chimney and sometimes the chimney still feels warm like it was just used.
Her daughter plays hide-n-seek behind the trees and can hear her giggles and dark shadows near the trees. If you ask nicely and politely to either one of the girls they'll answer by tapping on the chimney.
I know because I used to live on Clendon Brook Rd and I lived a house down from that property and would visit the chimney and the dead girls. Still get scared whenever I go there.

Comment by Pam: I grew up in Glens Falls &have been to that very spot you are talking about and I will go back a few more times until I see, hear, or feel something.

Comment by Betty: Sorry but you are wrong. We did some extensive research about 15 years ago at the Crandall Public Library.
The house at the corner of Clendon Brook and Tee Hill Rd was NOT the West house. That was a farm house that burned and 7 people died in the fire and some are still there. They are more likely to interact with you if you know who they are... Err... Were.
The West's house was way up on the other side. Butler Pond Rd. Go up Aviation Rd and cross West Mountain Rd and continue up that road. At the very top of the road it will turn right sharply and that part of the Rd will lead to Gurney Lane. BUT if you look to the left, you will see a metal gate. It is now posted for No Trespassing now but years ago it was an open dirt rd for logging. Just after the crest of that hill on the logging trail is the remains of a huge tree trunk, split with some burning traces on it. Abigail West was caught in a sudden storm and took refuge under a large tree near her house. A bolt of lightning hit the tree destroying it and killing her.
She was buried just down the rd. If you leave the gate and head back down the rd you came there is a clearing and a parking area to your right. There is a very rough, pot hot filled logging rd in the back of that area. Drive up that way CAREFULLY and fairly soon you'll come across a rickety bridge over a stream. A lot of kids go up there to party and whatnot. Over that bridge, you'll have to hike it as the road is steep and rough.
Somewhere up there are Abigail West's grave and others in the family. Her remains are still there but they moved her stone to the cemetery in Glens Falls. It could be the reason she still walks, especially on rainy, stormy nights. Oh and if you are obtaining EVPs? If you hear a little motor, the sound of an old sewing machine...that's her. .
