Rifton, New York Ghost Tales My house, at least 60 years old, is definitely haunted by paranormal spirits, like many other houses in Rifton. Although some people are skeptical whether they believe in spirits or not, my story was real and happened to be when I was six years old. (It's pretty long, but has some important details of what I can remember. ) I can remember that it was the Fourth of July, and my parents and I were all home, my father sleeping because he worked nights, and my Mother cleaning up in the kitchen. I walked out of the living room, and to go into any room you need to pass through a small hallway, (leading into the kitchen or one of the two doors to my parent's room) and the door was shut. For some reason right before I walked into the hallway, the door slowly started to open up. I didn't move or say anything, I figured it was my dad or my cat that somehow managed to open up the door. I just remember a tall, white yet translucent male figure standing before me, and it looked like he had light hair and glasses, wearing what seemed to be       a leather jacket. I ran to my Mom crying, wondering who it was and what they were doing in my house. I knew that it was a spirit, but I was only a kid and didn't entirely understand. After I explained to her exactly what they looked like, she knew exactly who I was talking about. The spirit that had visited my house on Independence Day was her   friend Chris, someone she had gone to school with. He had been killed in a drunk driving accident at a pretty young age, and that day just happened to be the Anniversary of his death. I still talk about this story twelve years later, and wonder if his spirit still visits my house. .
