It is one of the oldest forges that still stands along the east coast. It was mainly used to produce munitions such as Cannon balls for wars and the supposed upkeep of the furnace was too expensive for a lot of people so ownership of the furnace changed hands several times. It is said that one of the owners was a very cruel Man and the     people that worked the furnace had their paychecks passed to them from the man's kitchen window by his wife and that if you appeared to be intoxicated he would have you thrown into a barred cell he had in his basement for the night. On certain nights people have picked up EVP of a woman at this site and it is said that a woman wearing a White gown can sometimes be seen near the furnace. Although the tales of someone disposing of bodies in the furnace is more than Likely old-wives tales the identity of this woman remains unknown.
