the TV noise was thankfully gone. I thought the rock concert at the Baltimore arena was going to be the big experience of the night. It seems a night at the Lord Baltimore hotel was the real experience.

Baltimore Polytechnic High School used to be on North Avenue in the 50s. It was a nationally recognized engineering prep school. It produced a large number of accomplished men. It was an all male school. One morning a young man was found dead in the lunch room. He had fallen through the sky light. After that incident the janitors reported strange happenings at night when the school was empty.

There used to be a boy who played baseball on the Riverside Park field in the late fifties. He was about 5'10 and couldn't have weighed more than 150 lbs. He generated so much bat speed that he could hit the ball more that 400' often from home plate over the Railroad tracks.
I heard that he played military ball later in the sixties and went on to play several games in the majors where he hit 3 home runs in the 4 games he played. He elected to reenlist in the army and was killed in Vietnam.
His ghost has been seen down near the tracks on several occasions. His first name was Mike and he was a friend of George Seltzer and a boy named Dufflemeyer. I do not recall his last name but he lived on Byrd Street.
