My uncle used to live in a small apartment above a funeral home on main St. Elkton, MD. He told me several stories of him seeing ghostly figures and noises while living there which led to him moving out ASAP.
I was just a kid when he told me those stories so I just thought he was trying to scare me. But many years later I found out the truth. It was a hot muggy summer night with a light fog laying over the town.
I lived in Friendship Heights at the time and decided I would take my Rottweiler for a lengthy walk to and around the cow pound. Now I grew up in this area all my life so I know all the short cuts and it goes right through the funeral home property.

So there I am with my mp3 player and dog walking through the old hermitage neighborhood (which has a eerie feel to it at night) at 2 am just jamming out. When my dog just stops dead in his tracks barking very aggressively and every hair on his body was standing up. So I immediately ripped my ear buds out and took a look around.

I didn't see anything so I figured he had seen a cat or another animal. So I tried to continue to walk but my dog would not cross the property line of the funeral home. Then all of a sudden I could see my breath and felt a blast of cold air, my dog (a huge Rottweiler) got behind me and was whimpering and whining so loud I knew something wasn't right.
Then as I looked down at my dog I noticed his eyes were fixed on something. So I looked in the direction he was looking and at the basement door in the rear of the funeral home was a tall man with a top hat and the most sinister smile that I have ever seen motioning for me to come here.
I almost felt compelled to go to him and probably would have if it wasn't for my dog pulling me back. And when my dog pulled really hard on the leash the last time my eyes went straight to the man's eyes and all I saw was two black voids and I noticed he was very pale.
