Gaithersburg, Maryland Ghost Tales | |
|
There's a little creek in Gaithersburg. Way out back by Goshen, you have to go past Goshen elementary school then enter the trails south of the Church of John Newman then when you reach your first intersection take a left. They're trails down there. Never-ending ones. They all lead to a little creek that leads to an even bigger lake.
It was there that the worst experience I had in all my life happened. Seriously, I can't go back there at night anymore. It still makes me shiver all over. If you do go, I advice you to take a flashlight, with extra batteries and perhaps a change of clothes. Oh and running shoes. Ick.
anyways, I went here a few years back with a two of my good friends at the time, Michelle and Chloe. It was a crisp, perfect autumn Sunday and we all went down to the trails to find some rocks for an earth science assignment. We all lived by the same neighboring area so it was normal that we didn't have any adult supervision with us.
Anyways, we had a plastic bag heavy with rocks (the most unusual we could find)

and it was getting real dark on us, real fast. So, we walk back the path with the dusk light guiding us realizing the trails are much more different at dusk then they are when you can see things. So instead of asking for help (what we should of done), we wander around the grounds, trespassing, since it was at night, too. Then, it hits night time and

everything is pitch black. Me, Chloe and Michelle were practically holding out of anxiety. But we all keep on walking and whisper quietly to soothe the fear. It was all going good when Chloe stops in her tracks telling us in a sharp whisper that something is following us and that she hears something breathing. We all freeze in fear to hear but we hear nothing but the bugs and crap that always make those noises around lakes and creaks. Everyone's calm for now but then the loudest snap comes from the tree by Michelle's right and on instinct we all run like hell out of the trails and into the creek, or at least one of us does. Turns out, My supposed good friends left me out there to die in that creek. No one came to save me but I woke up that Monday morning freezing to death on the dirt path away from the creak. If there really was a murderer there I would be dead by now but there wasn't instead something else was out there. I don't know what it was but it saved my life.
Although, this story isn't a happy one. When I walked back home soggy,

cold, dirty and soooooooo tired my mom welcomed me home with a 5 month grounding. As for my ''friends''. They apologized formally and of course I had to accept it but my mom has not let it go since. At least I wasn't the only one grounded. . Submitted by Christina Categories: woods, sounds
