Jefferson, Maryland Ghost Tales One night while driving home from Middletown, I happened to pull into the parking lot of the Baptist church off Lander road about a mile or so from Cambridge Farms just to scare some of my friends.  I continued to stop the car, turn off the ignition and run out of the car leaving them somewhat freaked out as I ran into the cornfeld adjacent to it.  When I was done and they were a little bit creeped out, we saw what looked like the eyes of a deer hopping down Braddock in great leaps!  In a single bound, it would travel about half a mile!  I then sped off traveling home and out of the corner of our eyes we saw a man dressed in white standing at the top of an embankment next to the road, when we looked back he was gone.  Ive gone back there many nights to see if I could see it again, but I havent seen either of these two things.  The only explanation I have for this comes from the old English legend of Spring Heeled Jack. Local people who have made out this spirit claim this spirit loves startling foolish people who come looking for spirits in Jefferson. A pitch black cockroach that transformed into a lady can be perceived frequently having a seat in a chair in a house in Jefferson.
