Asheville, North Carolina Ghost Tales | |

One day back in the 70's my husband and I were visiting his sister who had just moved to Asheville and was renting an older home off of Merrimon Avenue. We pulled up out front and when I got out of the car I looked up and saw the image of a face looking down at me. I saw no hair and the face was turned sideways looking down so I thought it was someone who had just gotten out of the shower and was peeping out to see who was there. After telling my sister in-law what I had just seen we all went upstairs to look around. No one was there. I went back outside to see if it could have been the way the light was hitting the window and didn't see how that could have been the case. I have never seen anything like that before then, nor have I seen anything like that since. When I see a movie or a special on ghost I notice the indentions and darkness around the eyes and I think to myself that is just exactly what it looked like. It was an experience that I will never forget. My sister in-law had some unexplained things happen to her as well, and did not

this town in the dark hours. Phantoms are so usual in this place; a lot of residents don’t even lose sleep about it anymore. Some residents assert there are no ghosts, but the stressed souls of Asheville are all too real.
These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently.
The ghost of a dentist with a bloody uniform has repeatedly been seen nosing around in mailboxes in the early morning hours before sunrise in Asheville.
The ghost of a man gripping a blood-splattered knife is repeatedly perceived playing a song on a piano in an Asheville building. If you talk to the people who live here, this phantom can be the spirit of a local person who passed on here in Asheville in the past. No matter what folks say, this phantom undeniably is menacing; one that any sound person wouldn't wish to come across.
The ghost of a civil war fighter has allegedly been witnessed on a few instances in Aston Park late at night flickering a lantern.
The ghost of a critically charred woman can
