Camp Lejeune, North Carolina Ghost Sightings - PAGE 7
(...continued from the previous page)|
I was stationed/lived at MCAS New River throughout the 90s. I would spend most of my off-time fishing around Lejeune, Geiger, MCAS, and Verona Loop/Camp Devil Dog area. One of my favorite areas to fish was on the south side of the river in Verona Loop training area. In particular, there was a spot I fished often where once an early settlement was destroyed by a storm, and the people of that village moved and resettled inland. That is according to a historical monument/placard erected at the site.
I would drive to this site using the AAV trails. I fished by myself usually, but I often felt like I was being watched, or at least was not there alone. Then on one evening I went to this spot to fish for a couple of hours after work. Not long after I unloaded my gear and began fishing, I heard the sound of wood being chopped with an axe, and young children playing and laughing. What I heard was clear (not a maybe. ) I looked but saw no one there.

My wife and I rented a house in Haw Run. We had multiple things that were strange. Got back from deployment, my wife saw pioneer women walking through the bedroom. I put it out as a bad dream. After about a week when I got back dam if pioneer women walked through the bedroom, but as weird as that is. I got up at 0400; I was Platoon Sgt. and had to get my marines up. I was getting ready putting on my utilities, and a shadow was on our hallway wall. My son was 3. He couldn't get out of his crib. I cleared the house. Nobody was there. Told the neighbors, and they said the house was on an old trail people used to go west. And get this, in 1970 a small boy about 3 got strangled in his crib, and we weren't the first to see these things there. I never believed in stuff like that till it happened. It's all true. I swear on my honor as a marine 83--91. SEMPER FI.
