Comment by Red Devil Viking: A fine piece of fiction but almost completely untrue. One hole in your story is that there have been no woods within 1000 yards of where the ball fields were for over 50 years. Your descriptions of the buildings and layouts are inaccurate as well. The biggest error is stating it was torn down. Yes it was but only after humongous damage from an arson. From another's comments it was NEVER a prison(unless you count all us lil' ''convicts'' who used to go there). I attended there 1965-1973. My older brother was there 1954-1966. Our father was there 1933-1944. NONE of us ever heard any ghost stories murders etc. Again you composed a very entertaining story.
By the way Tabernacle School at one time named White Oak School is now the beautiful Tabernacle Soccer Complex and is ''haunted'' by hundreds of happy fun-loving kids almost all of whom came that way courtesy of the United States Marine Corps. The only ''unusual sighting'' may be the occasional descendant of a Palo Alto/Grants Creek/Belgrade/White Oak River native who actually attended the school. You are within your rights to concoct this tale friend, but we don't enjoy having our loving memories of our school treated this way. .
Comment by No One: Red Devil Viking, if you know it is untrue, then keep it to yourself. Other people can be idiots and believe it. It just sounds like you're trying to defend the school when they don't need it.

My husband works on Camp Lejeune and we used to take the 172 gate out home it was maybe 7 in the evening and I was headed home from dropping him off, and up ahead I thought I saw someone crossing the road, there were trees around but thin enough so you could still see through for a while, as I drove closer I saw nothing... A few weeks later my husband was driving home and swore he saw the same thing. Submitted by Jessica
Comment by Ha Mel: Back in 1980 I drove a taxi part time on Lejeune. Never witnessed any figures walking the back roads but did witness an orb descending in the French Creek area one morning about 02:30. As this orb descended, you could see it go behind the tree limbs at which time the light would fade out. My passenger and I sat there watching this thing slowly descend until it finally hit the ground and went out completely. A bit eerie.
