A sizeable menacing ghost has every now and then been observed up on the apex of Ad Tate Knob trying to find a woman. Several of the people who live in this town declare this spirit is that of a local resident who settled here in Maggie Valley many years ago.

The ghost of a chained up guy is now and then witnessed sitting
  in an armchair in a home in Maggie Valley. If you talk to the people who live here, this ghost likes startling foolish folks who come trying to locate ghosts in Maggie Valley.

The spirit of a hobo is rumored to have been spotted on several instances staring next to Woodfin Falls on a dark night.
