Hundreds of women and children starved to death as the soldiers also stole all the food sources and torched the crop Fields as well. With very few people left alive and no homes left standing for Miles around the few survivors had to wait for the Winter snows to melt before they could bury their dead. When the ground was no longer frozen over     three Hundred women and children were buried in a field on the outskirts of where the city once stood. The field where these poor souls were buried is known locally by some folks as the Jerusalem plain. Legend has it that children can often be seen at night (and during the day) walking hand in hand through these Fields which now contain the unmarked graves of the mothers and children.
