Jacksonboro, South Carolina Ghost Tales

The gang and i went to investigate these ''Jacksonboro Lights'' last night. We did see a light, but believe it was just car headlights in the distance, or local kids messing with us.

I saw the light about 12 years ago. I was there with my friends Tanya and her husband and her sister and husband. We drove on Parklers Ferry road about midnight (we were all sober) and I was disappointed to see how modern the church was. We drove around to the cemetery in back and flashed our lights at the large white cross in the middle. Then we drove out front and Tanya's husband and I were the only ones who hadn't seen the light so only the two of us had to get out to knock on the church door. We did that and ran back to the car. We drove just out of sight of the church and pulled over. We were facing the way we had originally come, from Jacksonboro. We flashed the lights 3 times and within 5 minutes the light appeared. To me it was about 3 feet in circumference. It

was waving lantern style at first but then it began changing color. It was blue and white, then red, then white, to yellow. It went way in the air and came way too quickly back down. It went away from us then disappeared. It suddenly reappeared about 10 feet from the hood of the car and flew incredibly quickly over the hood of the car scaring us all
half to death. This light cast no glow on any of the trees or the road below It couldn't have been a flashlight or lantern. I'll never forget it.

I have lived in Walterboro, a small town near Jacksonboro, my whole life, but never had enough courage to go and see the light for myself, so last night we decided to go down Parkers Ferry Road to try and make the light appear. I am not one to believe in ghost stories, but something was so eerie about the road. It was extremely dark, foggy, and muggy outside; perfect weather for a ghost! We road about 2 miles down the road and came upon Hopwell Babtist Church on the left side of the road. We turned into the gate and turned off the car and flashed our lights three times. We then turned back the way we came up the road for one mile, stopped, and turned our lights on and off 5 more times. By the third flash a lantern glowing off in the distance appeared! This was not a normal light in the slightest!
Most lights from a distance have rays coming off of them and are blurry, but this lantern was distinct and was moving up and down as if carried by a man. I was told that you would hear a faint sound of a train right before the light would appear. On the way there were an abundance of crickets chirping and they could be heard above the motor. Being from around here I didn't think anything of it, but when we stopped the car and flashed the lights, the crickets became barely chirping, like a faint train! We did not last long and hauled butt out of there before it could come too close to us. I was later told that if the light came to your car and tapped on your hood, your car would not start! Again I usually never believe in the supernatural, but there is no logical explanation for the light! If in the area, it is a must-see sight!.
