Amherst, Virginia Ghost Tales There are definitely ghosts in Amherst. I lived in Amherst for 2 years on Hico DR. I began hearing noises in our home about a week after we moved in. I heard voices talking outside of the home and heard glass shattering in my home. I would run to see what broke and everything was ok. I have heard a man talking in the home and I was the only one there. My son has reported to me him seeing soldiers in the woods walking around in the woods outside of our home and even seeing some inside our home wounded fatally. The occurrences have happened to me and to others who have rented the home before us and who have even visited. I had to ask the landlord about the house and in return she had soothed the suspicions of my sanity.
