Based on what the locals assert, this phantom can be the spirit of a local resident who passed away here in Ararat long ago.
The phantom of a tough lumberjack clutching a sizeable axe is repeatedly spotted by Loves Pond Dam in the early morning hours before sunrise staring at the water.
