Big Stone Gap, Virginia Ghost Tales On the third night of every October when there is a full moon in two forks holler under the old trussel there have been several reports of paranormal sightings from both local townsfolk and travelers from all over.  Most people have reported seeing a dark-haired girl who is covered in blood with dozens of lacerations on her body.  Locals believe this to be the ghost of a girl who was brutally stabbed to death in 1956. One witness claims to have seen the girl writing a name in blood on the trussel.  Many locals believe that she is trying to expose her murderer who got away with killing her so many years ago.  If you dare to venture down to the old trussel under the moonlight, be prepared to be scared. A chilling skeleton is every so often perceived crying at Bens Branch Dam in the early morning hours before sunrise. A glowing human shape has been said to have been witnessed on a small number of instances laundering a blood-splattered shirt in Big Spring late at night. The ghost of a young-looking gentleman in a leather jacket may every so often be observed up on Bowling Knob gazing. A beheaded gentleman was seen in an autopart store in the Big Stone Gap vicinity. Many sightings of this spirit have been conveyed. Folks here who have observed this ghost declare this ghost is the undead spirit of a long gone Big Stone Gap local person.
