Emporia, Virginia Ghost Sightings
The legend of ''the shining tombstone'' at Round Hill Cemetery on Brink Road near Emporia Virginia is a genuine phenomenon that occurs whenever there's enough moonlight to fill up the cemetery and it really is an unusual sight to behold.|
I have yet to come up with a rational explanation for why this phenomenon happens.

It was June of 2003 when my family and I were relocating to Virginia Beach, VA. I had driven this route many times before but had never seen anything as bizarre as I had witnessed that night. It was in the early hours of the morning, probably between 1:30 and 3:30 AM. I was driving a minivan with my 13-year-old son as my co-pilot while my two younger boys were asleep in the back. My wife and my sister-in-law were in the U-Haul truck following me. It was along Route 58 either just before you go through Emporia or a little after you enter Emporia.
It was pretty foggy that night, not exactly as thick as pea soup fog but pretty heavy in some patches. The grass along the inner median was a little tall, almost like it was a corn field. About fifty yards ahead of us my son and I observed a gentleman exit the middle median and run along the road. Just as we caught up with him, he darted back into the tall grass of the median, and we lost sight of him. A little ways down the road, my son and I observed the same man run out of the grass along the median and do the same thing again as we caught up to him. My son and I looked at one another confused at what we were seeing. How could this man be in front of us and we just passed him doing 55 miles per hour. A little ways down the road the man exited the grass again and like before, he darted in when we caught up to him. Again, a little ways down the road, we saw the man again. Only this time when he darted back into the grass something different happened.
From out of nowhere there was a deer in the middle of the road charging straight at us. As I swerved the van to the right, I could see the deer lower his head. I never lost control of the van and kept on going. When we stopped for gas shortly thereafter, my son and I asked my wife and sister-in-law if they had seen what happened. They had seen me swerve but did not see the dear that my son and I had seen. What they saw was a rabbit that was split in half when I avoided the deer and apparently ran over it. When I walked around the van to go and pay for the gas though, I noticed that my left turn signal assembly was completely gone. Whatever was in the road had removed it completely from my van though I never felt the collision.
