I just moved to fort Monroe few months ago you can definitely feel the presence of a different era here but it is not scary it's very interesting. At about 7:30 tonight I was laying in my room and I heard the sound of drumming.
It sounded like a Marching drum line and it was getting louder as if it was coming closer. I know I wasn't imagining it so I looked out the window and didn't see anything. I laid back down and I heard it again but louder do I ran downstairs n opened the front door n there was nothing.
I went back upstairs n laid on my bed n I heard a horn blow 5 times! I laughed because I. I didn't understand what was going on it wasn't scary... But it was eerie. I went downstairs to turn down the AC because it was blasting and it was freezing it was turned down to 68° and I did not touch it! Nobody else was home so I did not understand this! As I walked upstairs again ad I reached the top the light above me lit up really bright n I got a huge chill run down from my the back of my head down my spine all the way to my feet and I ran down the stairs this chill lasted for 10 seconds it was unexplainable.|
I called my bf who was on duty at ft Eustis n he did some googling and he found that today September 29 is the anniversary of ft Monroe from September 29 1609.

Comment by Cbo: Glad for you Katrina that you find these experiences interesting as opposed to scary. I spent quite a few of my formative years at Fortress Monroe and I still find some of my childhood experiences very unsettling to say the least.
