Some of the dead will not rest in this town. Disbelievers don't trust in the local phantom tales, but the tormented souls of Gate City are all too real. These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. A lady burning, carrying a petroleum bottle has now and then been noticed sitting in a beanbag in a house in Gate City. The ghost of a youthful air force pilot is now and then perceived soaring over Double Lick late at night. A number of of the people who live in       this town claim this ghost is possibly the stressed ghost of a resident who used to have a house here in Gate City. A gentleman's body having the head of an animal was seen soaring over the Copper Creek Knob after midnight. Numerous people in close proximity have had similar incidents involving a very similar ghost. If you talk to the local residents, this ghost is the tormented soul of a long gone Gate City person who lived here. A female character emerged hauling a dead body from the freezing water of Camp-meeting Creek very late at night. This spirit is enormously active in this neighborhood; there have been frequent other reports of this specific spirit. The spirit of a female having satanic symbols engraved into her nose was made out pulling a corpse across the dirt in Centennial Boat Yard Park late in the night. This is one of those phantoms that is perceived very often nearby. According to what the local residents assert, this ghost is the ghost of a traveler that was murdered while driving through Gate City some decades ago.
