Glade Spring, Virginia Ghost Tales I've lived in Glade Spring all my life. When I was in the fifth grade I was asleep on the top bunk of my bed. My mom and then five year old sister were in the bottom bed. I can't remember what time it was, but I just woke up all of a sudden. There beside me looking out the window was a ghost in a confederate uniform. At first I wasn't affraid, Ijust stared at it for around twenty seconds or so. Everyone else was still asleep, so I started trying to wake my mom up by calling her name. When she answered I told her to look. At that time the ghost started to turn toward me, I rolled over and covered my head.       About that time my mom turned on the light. I ask her if she saw it, and she said yes. Night time is undead time in this place. Not everybody trusts in the stories the folks who live here tell, but everybody who lives in Glade Spring is not alive. These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. A military uniform walking about devoid of a body in it may be spotted often having a seat on a bench in a residence in Glade Spring. One thing's for guaranteed, this is a horrible ghost that you would not want to encounter around midnight. The phantom of a severely burned lady has from time to time been noticed going bananas beside a streetlamp in Glade Spring. If you talk to the people who live here, this spirit is the undeceased spirit of a former Glade Spring person who lived here. The ghost of a man having a cross carved into his head has purportedly been distinguished on frequent occasions digging a crater up on Bald Knob. The ghost of a train driver may occasionally be observed by Edmondson Dam in the early morning hours looking at the water.
