Laurel Fork, Virginia Ghost Tales When I was young my mom purchased a home from a ''crazy'' art teacher. We moved in shortly after. My Dad joke about how one of his teachers lived there when he was a boy. Her husband had apparently hung himself from the stair way. He also told how he and his friends had always teased current teacher when they were younger about never being married. It seemed like a good home when we were there. However we did have some strange experiences. More than once a man tried too enter our home late at night. It scared us to death!! we thought that it was an older man that lived down the street who was drunk. We later found out that he could barely walk and there was no way for him to have done what we experienced. (The house sits on a extremely steep hill. )We didn't think much of it though. We moved out after a short time because my Mom had remarried. About a year later though, our new family decided to move back because it was a larger home. That is when the real crazy stared!! My Mom and my step father started arguing almost immediately       after moving back in. They divorced shortly after. My sister and I began to feel very uneasy upstairs or even looking up the stair way at night. You always felt watched there and in the basement. Our rooms were upstairs and at times the stair way light would cut itself on and off very rapidly!! One night it was extremely rapid and the upstairs bath   faucets all cut on!! I could see and here it from my bed. I was frozen in terror. My sister ( who is 4 years younger than me) just went in and turned them off and went back to bed. It never happened again. Weekly, I would be a sleep and here my bedroom door open and here footsteps come into my room and into my closet. We moved out shortly after because my Mom started a new job. I moved in with my Dad, and in time, chalked it up to an over active imagination. When I was a senior in high school my friends and I would stay there from time to time. I told them about the experiences and we had fun, but no one believed it. It all seemed to be just what I thought. We never experienced anything other than the kitchen faucet cutting on sometimes at random. Its an old house, just the plumbing. I married at the age of 20 and my wife and I started renting the house from my Mom. We moved in and all seemed well. I worked a lot nights and after a while my wife refused to stay there alone at dark. I always teased her. Her sister would come up and stay. My wife and started to argue a lot and were really having problems. She really wanted to have a child and we had tried for a whole year. It just wasn't working.
