Manassas, Virginia Ghost Sightings - PAGE 10
(...continued from the previous page)|
Comment by DG: Okay, I'll add my comment, but first full disclosure: I am a believer in Jesus and would not even be here except that I was thinking of buying the house and came upon this site in doing my due diligence. I have no desire to seek or glorify the devil, but I do believe in curses, and feel compelled to share what I know.
Something is definitely wrong with this house. The architecture, for one thing, is bizarre. You enter the front door and are greeted by a wall. The lower family room has windows with a great view, but when you look through them from the upper kitchen all you can see is the ground. Why were such windows not extended to the second story? Bedrooms feel cramped. And the moldy smell was suffocating. Outside a pink tricycle rusts away. A pool seems to have been abandoned since a tree fell across it years ago.
I met the neighbor when we made a wrong turn getting there and ended up on the adjacent property. A real nice guy, he said he'd been there 20 years and hadn't known anyone to live there all that time. A ''sense of sadness'' pervades the place indeed.
Even the lot seems awkward for building a house. To get the nice view, you have to put the house part way down the hill, obscured from the rest of the world. This is what the original owner tried to do. Yet the whole thing seems to have failed, and worse yet seems destined to fail again. Even if they do extend the paved road to the house, and even if they get rid of the smell and somehow fix the pool, I just can't see anyone living there.
Like I said, I do believe in curses. After all the Bible takes them seriously. Sorry for being preachy. I can't speak for the house being haunted, but I am inclined to think it's cursed. I don't know why. Perhaps some Iroquois chief considered this holy ground and put a curse on anyone who would build on it. Or perhaps some horrific crime was committed that has never been atoned for, or some terrible injustice that has never be made right. Unless someone volunteers more information, I am at a loss how to prove or disprove my suspicions. However, for whatever it may be worth, I'll state my unsubstantiatable prediction: No one will ever live there. Woe to the bank or person who tries to restore what is cursed; they're throwing their money away. If that property is worth anything, it's worth more with the house and pool razed.
