Back in the mid 80s I shared an apartment in an old house on the corner of Sycamore Street and Surry Lane beside the Masonic Temple. The home was subdivided into apartments. There were many eerie sights, sounds, smells, and ambient temperature changes in the apartment. We called the PPD no less than a dozen times in the three months we were residences. We had lights turn on unexplained, windows open, books fly off shelves, and windows frost over in mid-May.
Sulfur was the odor of choice.|
The last call to the PPD resulted in a priest being sent to our apartment. Needless to say, I thought is was a joke.
However, as time went on and we heard other like-stories, I became a believer. We broke our lease and ran away as fast as we could, never to return. Our apartment has a long history of the eerie. Just ask your local policeman.|

The house I live in on West Street has a resident ghost or two. They are harmless. One is an officer in the military during the Civil War. His name is John. He and his wife Hester lived here. His activities include rattling doorknobs, knocking on doors, and roaming from one side of the room to the other.
