Vinton, Virginia Ghost Tales

I was outside on my back porch smoking a cigarette just like I do everynight before I go to bed there is a field (well its really a backyard but its big) diagonal from my back porch I was standing there and my motion flood light went out like it does after 30 seconds after it was dark I looked over and there was the figure of an old man walking his dog across the street into the field his dog was rather large and was pulling the man it was like the dog was walking him. I stood as still and quiet as I could as the man walked his dog around the field. It was as if he was looking for something on the ground.
The man walked around with his dog for about 5 minutes and exited the field onto the road parellel adjacent to south marshall. I went out the next morning and told my neighbor about the sighting. She
was speechless, and opened a drawer in her kitchen and pulled out a heart shaped locket she said she had found. The picture inside the locket was of a little girl, but the strange thing is her face looked like it had been badly burnt in a fire or something..if you come out looking for this ghost I advise you to just be cautious on a count of I don't know if it is a good or bad one. This happened off of washington ave near south marshall dr. At about 430am..if you come out please dont come looking for me. I dont like to be bothered at night I like peace and quiet and I keep to myself. If you knock on
my door I will ask you to leave and will answer no questions.

As a resident of vinton my whole life, I've had a few encounters.  But my favorite by far is the berkleys bottom house next to the railroad tracks.  Me and a good friend of mine decided to check it out one time, unaware of what was inside.  When we got inside the house it was an immediate cold feeling, though nothing too out of the ordinary, until we traveled upstairs.  Now this was the weird part, the entire upstairs was open, no rooms, like an attic.  The entire room was empty except for a chest towards the back wall, unopened, we didn't walk the floors incase of rotten wood, but when we looked at the walls there were handprints, and due to the color, it resembles dried up blood.  After noticing the handprints we got a little more spooked than usual and decided to leave.  But when we got outside, the gravel lot of the house had been turned to mud and there were tire tracks everywhere.  We didn't hear any vehicle and it was not raining that night.  We also parked in the parking lot across the street.  If you're a fellow ghost hunter, I recommend checking this out.  Though we didn't see any ghosts, that doesn't mean they aren't there.  Though a bit of warning, I heard lately the authorities are recently patrolling the area due too some kids getting in trouble down there.  So becareful.
