I have seen this phenomenon several times over the years between 1975 and 1985. There was a place my friends and I used to like to sit because there was a little pull off next to track that was obscured by bushes and it was hard for the sheriff to see a car parked there.
I don't remember the sheriff caring until about 1980 or 1981 then he would chase people off. Most of the time the light would appear way down the track like a glowing ball of light more than like a headlight and there was never any sound.
The light would move down the track at a steady pace sometimes changing color and intensity but not rising or falling - like it was moving in a line. It would get closer and closer and the first time or two I would freak out and run off the tracks.|
But after a couple of times seeing it I stayed on the tracks and the light just kind of faded out about a thirty yards or so before it got to us. There was one time where a totally different kind of light ran down the tracks almost like a tiny bolt of lightning.
Don't know what the heck that was and I never saw that again. I bet over the years I've probably seen the light about twenty times or so. It was pretty regular. Once in a while it wouldn't show. But most of the time it did.
