People have contributed the Boogie Light to swamp gas gathered on the tracks but if you have seen it you would say it was not anything gaseous but a direct light, like from a lantern.

It was in the summer I believe of 1967. I lived in a very rural area of the state known as the Northern Neck. The county seat had a population of maybe 1000 people. There was not much there to entertain a 17 year old and his girlfriend.
I suggested for lack of anything better to do we go and investigate the legend of the West Point ghost. The 3 of us including her 1st cousin who happened to be visiting drove to the vicinity which took a little over an hour.|
I didn't know the exact location so I stopped at a little country store which happened to still be open. This was approximately 8:30 pm, we were given explicit directions and found the intersection of the road and train tracks.|
To my surprise there were 4 other cars there. The atmosphere among all the observers was that of not really expecting to see anything, but for lack of anything better to do we can say we went to see the West Point ghost.
It wasn't long after dark that we all became quiet. A bright light appeared. It wasn't stationary but moved a bit up and down the tracks. Let me explain as best I can what it looked like. In the ''old days'' a lot of us kids had 50 or 60cc Suzuki or Yamaha motorcycles.
