White Post, Virginia Ghost Tales

On Berry's Ferry Rd.  We stayed in a house on this road built in the late 1800's-early 1900's.  We had many experiences while we were there- for about a year we heard footsteps on the stairs- it was always 4 very solid footsteps.  We experienced this until my husband (a former skeptic) saw a soldier in uniform (maybe civil war era) at the bottom of the staircase one morning- the soldier waved to him and was gone.  We didn't hear footsteps after that.  Another time I was downstairs with my son and heard a child running upstairs- I went to shout ''settle down'' and realized my son was sitting next to me.  There were no other children in the house.  When we went to move it was much worse.  Lights began to flicker... things got weirder.  One evening my son and I were in the kitchen packing and someone (who sounded like a young girl) said ''hello'' clear as day- I looked at my son and he was looking at me- we had no idea where it came from.  We checked outside- we checked the entire house. The next day the moving truck was packed and ready to
go- My son and I had gone to the new house to unload some fragile items and my husband had stayed behind to do some last minute things.  When I pulled up he was sitting outside by the driveway.  He wasn't himself- he quickly came up to the truck and said ''I'm done here- I'm not going back in there!''  I had to go in and locked up.  He wouldn't tell
me what was wrong.  Finally, later that night he told me he heard voices and the lights were all flickering at once.  To this day he won't tell me details- but the look on his face that day said enough.  One last occurance- we were dropping the keys off with a neighbor.  She asked if my brother was helping us move... I told her no and asked why- she told me she had seen our son playing outside with young man.  She decribed him as being in his 20's.  It had only been my husband inside and I and our son was out playing... next to the moving truck.  I wasn't sure what she was talking about- we  were in the middle of the country... So I asked my son who he was playing with- he told me no one.  I asked him if he saw anyone while he was outside- and he looked at me like I was crazy.  To this day I have no idea what she saw.
