Duck, West Virginia Ghost Tales Through the years, there have been stories of Union and Confederate troops crossing paths in Duck. One place in particular down Hallsburg Road. About a mile down the Rd, just before you get to the Hallsburg Church, there is a hole that goes back in the hill. The water that comes out of it is so good. During the Spring time (same time every year) just as the sun is coming up, you can see several soldiers on the property. They are dressed in full uniform. It is almost like a reinactment every year. Soldiers running away (both sides) as well as some of the confederate troops capturing a few of the union troops. The odd thing is that there a few black union soldiers that seemed to have been captured during this ''reinactment''. I don't really know of the history in that area regarding the civil war, but there was a battle that took place just a bit north of there in Bull Run. There was also a battle a Carnifax Ferry in Summersville. It would be really awesome if someone could check it out and prove to me that I am just a crazy guy. I just want to know what happend there.
