In Youngs Bottom, which is located between Elkview and Clendenin, there is the wife's tale of the white t-shirt ghost. My dad and his 2 buddies were on the river bank one night fishing and had a run in with this ghost. Apparently they had a fire lit and were actually joking about the white t-shirt ghost when something appeared at the top of the hill. At first thinking it was a person, they began to call up to them but got no response. Then the thing began hurtling down the hill at impossible speed through the brush and disappeared just before it hit the fire light. All I can say is that dad was pretty adamant about it, and his friends said the same thing about the incident. Pretty scary.

Little Sandy Road is very haunted. In the middle of the holler, about 4 miles in, there is a group of homes very close together. Most of the people that live in this area are related and have the same last name. In the community there is a cemetery with very few graves. As far as I know the graves are the deceased from the community. Anyhow I was traveling through one night and noticed a bright light (almost like a small sun that cast off lots of light) hovering about the cemetery. Growing up on this road my whole life I had never seen a light there, and it put off so much light I immediately stopped in the road to check it out.
First thought was that the community had placed something in the cemetery so that they could always see where their loved ones rest. When I stopped and sat there for a total of maybe 2 minutes the ball of light came down closer to the ground about 5 feet off. Then it slowly started traveling toward my car. It was so bright I could obviously see if it were a torch or on a string, but there was nothing holding this ball of light. As it came closer, it started going really fast straight toward me. It was about 20 feet from me when I realized it was coming after me. I drove off very fast. Just one of the strange things I have seen on the holler.
