Fairdale, West Virginia Ghost Tales One Sunny Day,up Brunty Hollow, a young woman was getting ready to work in the Cornfield, which was located several hundred yards from her farmhouse, she did'nt want to take her 6 week old baby with her, because it was extremely hot that day.  So she decided with the weather so nice that she would put her sleeping baby under the Eve in the rain barrel. After about an hour of working in the field, she noticed some very dark clouds rolling in very fastly and alot of heavy thunder behind it.  All she could think of was getting back to the house as quick as she could to get her baby out of the rain barrel.  As she was running to the house, the rain begin to pour down in sheets.  As she got to the house, and to the barrel, she started screaming, the barrel was full of water and the baby had drowned.  To this day they say you can still hear the baby crying when a big storm is on its way.
