Anniston, Alabama Ghost Tales | |

I've spent A LOT of time in Anniston ever since I was a baby. My grandmother used to live up on East 43rd Street on the hill next to The House of Chen restaurant. My grandfather built that house back in the early 1960's. (It's no longer there) As far back as I can remember I never liked being too far away from anyone at anytime in the house. All of my cousin's felt very uneasy as well, and this wasn't just a childhood fear. We all never felt quite right in that house even up until it was sold. I spent most of my summer's with my grandma up until I was in my mid teen's. Barely a night would go by that I didn't hear some strange noise in the house. I know old house's settle and creak but these sounds were different. I heard what sounded like someone walking up and down the hall, and things getting re-arranged in the kitchen. We had the living room t.v. shut off on it's own, the door bell would ring and there wouldn't be anyone there. That happened pretty frequently over the years, and there wasn't a short in it either. I answered the phone

one night and all I heard on the other end was static. I didn't think too much of it at the time. Then one night I was lying awake in bed when I heard someone say Dee (that's my nickname) in a low whisper. I looked around and didn't see anyone there. I slept with my head under the cover's the rest of the night. Occasionally you would hear what sounded

like a conversation going on, but it would sound far away so you couldn't make out what was being said. The rest of my family has had similar expierience's as well and some that went beyond my personal ones. It was somewhere you didn't want to be alone. Submitted by D. Holley Categories: home, sounds
